Guide

How to contribute your knowledge to the NauhaDiary archive and help preserve the sacred tradition for generations to come.

Why submissions matter

NauhaDiary started with 4,000 nauhas. But the tradition of nauha is vast — thousands of poets, hundreds of reciters, decades of majlises. No single team can capture all of it. Every submission from the community makes this resource more complete for everyone who comes after.

If you know a nauha that is missing, submitting it is an act of service.

What we accept

We accept nauha lyrics that are in Urdu script, Roman Urdu, or both. We welcome nauhas from all reciters, all regions, and all time periods — both classical and contemporary.

We do not accept:

  • Marsiya submitted as nauha (different form)
  • Duplicate submissions of existing lyrics
  • Deliberately incorrect or promotional content

How to submit

01

Check if it exists

Search by title or reciter first to avoid duplicates.

02

Gather details

Collect full lyrics, title, reciter, and poet name (if known).

03

Submit and Review

Fill the form at nauhadiary.com/submit. Reviews take 24-48 hours.

Formatting guidelines

Verses and spacing

Leave one blank line between each verse. Do not number the verses or add bullet points.

Roman Urdu

Be consistent with spelling. We prefer "Ya Hussain", "Karbala", and "Azadari". Capitalize the first word of each line.

Chorus / Refrain

If there is a repeated chorus, submit it once and note that it repeats. Do not copy-paste it after every verse.

Attribution

We believe poets and reciters deserve credit. If you know who wrote or recited a nauha, always include that information. If unknown, write "Unknown" — do not leave it blank.
